It's the eve of my first day of 11th grade.
And I have come to a somber realisation, I am an actual person. I have a life. Gone are the days where I sat around worrying about my hair and contemplating what new shirt to buy. No, I do things. I'll be setting up my school's coffeehouse (with a few good friends) this year, I volunteer at hospice, and I'll be working on my pre-college application until it's perfect.
Freaky, man.
Here are a few things that I've bought in preperation for school (because I still enjoy buying things. duh):

I have been looking for a decent pair of boots, that I liked, with out a hooker heel (apparently I enjoy looking like a "French prostitute", in my father's words), for 2 years. And I found them. At Delias? Yes. Unfortunately, they're on backorder so I haven't gotten them yet but I'm full of anticipation! $79.

Generally, I make fun of Old Navy. But, one day a friend and I had time to kill so we went in, and I saw this trench. I have always loved trench coats. Maybe it's because I grew up reading Nancy Drew and watching movies from the 60's. Or maybe it's just because a good flasher joke always brightens my day. $39.50.

I also bought this Le Sportsac tote, of course I got in an actual pattern but they dont' have it on the website (probably because it's mildly ugly, but I still like it). My school bag from last year was quite cool, it was a map of the London Underground but unfortunately the vinyl just couldn't handle a years worth of abuse and civ readings and died (right before exams, actually). I don't think I've thrown it away. Actually, I know I haven't thrown it away. It's still in my kitchen on a stool, edges fraying and covered with spilled coffee. $46.

One of my favorite stores (that's actually near where I live) is Up Against The Wall. It's where I get my Heatherette and Betseyville fix. Plus, I can always count on them for affordable bags, like this one. Please ignore the shittiness of the picture, I have not cleaned my room since getting home from Australia and my bed (with unmatching sheets...) is the only flat surface. Sad, I know. I was planning on cleaning today to...Anways, I adore this bag. It's huge. I have fit:
1. My nalgene water bottle.
2. A notebook
3. 4 pairs of sunglasses
5. A magazine
6. a trench coat
7. all of the usual purse things
8. all of my make-up
There was room for more. My friend Melissa was mildly upset that I bought it, "It's larger than your skirt!"She's crazy though. Around $40.

I bought this bag at Up Against the Wall too, it's much smaller than the black one but I love it just the same. Around $15.

Into the Colors of the Dark

I was going to do a post about various books that I have read this summer but then I noticed that I had an e-mail from Lilac Bijoux.
I love Lilac Bijoux. When I have extra time before work I always go there and oggle the bags and jewelry. So, here is a post dedicated to one of the many loves of my life.

I think that I'm actually going to buy this bag. I need a new carry-all. My current purse is brown and actually really cute but I've gotten bored with it. Plus I got it as a secret santa present from a girl who is notorious for not liking anyone so it's probably laced with lead or something. I'm surprised I can even walk. $84.

My best friend has this bag in silver. Since it's nylon it's totally durable, but it's still thoroughly attractive. It's just a really great bag in general. I strongly recommend it. $138.

I dont' really wear necklaces because I'm a horrible fidget and always break them, but I would wear one of these anyways. Normally I'm against necklaces with initials/names on them but these are rather unique. I love the ruggedness. $128.

I'm terrible I know.
I'm writing here almost a week after I got home. There are many reasons though (and according to my father I'm the queen of excuses).
1. I was sick. Not sick enough to vomit or anything but sick nonetheless. Last night I went to see some local bands play and I had trouble speaking. My throat is in a sorry state.
2. Jet lag.
3. My mom broke her right wrist so now I have to help her drive/cook/function.

ANYWAYS, why do I keep on get junk e-mail about Viagra? And I've heard about 20 commercials for it on the radio today. Is some higher power trying to tell me something?

So, on to fashion. While in the airport waiting for my plane from Sydney to LAX I picked up a copy of RUSSH and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you ever see a copy, I suggest picking it up. But, you know, I'm one of those people that buys magazines for the photographs rather than the articles (which is strange considering how much I love to read). I absolutely adore their "Paint it Pastel" spread. They have a Myspace.

On Friday I got my bangs cut straight across and today I put on pink lipstick (not frosted or anything like that, but pink nonetheless).
I do believe that the 90's are officially back. I mean, every one's been talking about it for ages but have you taken a look at this month's W or Vogue? I swear I saw shoulder pads.
Anyways, I have to confess something. I have been avoiding the internet. I haven't even check my e-mail. Whenever I go on the computer it's because:
A) facebook.
B) some one imed me. Not that I actually im them back. I generally go back to watching 90210
C) spider solitaire has taken over my soul

I am so afraid of accidentally reading a Harry Potter spoiler. It has happened to people I know. What's even worse, is that I'm not reading the book until Friday. Why? I have a 14 hour flight to Australia, what else would I do on it? Which means, that until August 13 expect few, if any posts. In the mean time, here are some big bags I enjoy.

Ever since I was a wee little one I have had a love for black patent. Well, actually shiny things in general, but you get my drift. This is basically everything I want in a bag, big enough for a book, a journal, and a magazine, with pockets for lipgloss and other essentials. Marc Jacobs, why must you tease me so? $388.

I have seen silver shirts in 3000000 stores lately and have resisted buying all of them. I don't care what the "Color Me Beautiful" lady at the Chanel make-up counter says, I do not look best in silver. Well, okay, I might, but still I already have a silver bikini and shirt I bought at Annie Creamcheese last year. Well, anyways, I doubt you care about that. This bag is legitimately awesome, there is no doubt in my mind. Once again Erotokritos has me smitten. $782.

Baskety bags are so springy and fresh and lovely that I can't help but love each and every one. This is no exception especially since it's large (like I said earlier, I enjoy my reading material). $206.50 ON SALE

Chanel will always be remembered for popularizing the quilted bag, Urban Outfitters for hipsterizing it. Still, this is a tote, it's attractive, and it meets the criteria for this post (I enjoy it). And I may even buy it. $38.

Normally I find Kate Spade to be pretty boring and just not that great (good quality, wouldn't buy it though). But, as far as basic totes go this is basically right on target for greatness. $275.

I will always, always love canvas bags and Lacoste is one of my favorite brands (silly, I know). So, naturally, I adore this bag. Notice how the bits I have written about each thing got shorter each time. $200.

I don't wear watches. I just check my phone or ask someone else what time it is. But, after seeing this Versace watch in an ad I just about died. This is my perfect watch. If only it wasn't you know, ridiculously expensive.
Speaking of perfect things, I bought my perfect pair of jeans the other day (they weren't too short, my butt was not hanging out, and they were the perfect wash) for 13 dollars. I was shocked. Mainly because they were marked down from over 100 dollars and jeans that go on sale never fit me. Only really expensive jeans have looked good on me. My body just really enjoys spending loads of money. Anyways, I will have more posts later today. Hopefully. I've been really exhausted lately so who knows.

I actually have a dress problem i was wondering you could address, I've been buying a bunch of cute light weight summer dresses, however (especially the white ones), theyre always so sheer and even with nude underwear, you can still see the outline. So i was just wondering what you wear under your crochet dress or any sheer dress.

SLIPS! SLIPS! SLIPS! Except, properly fitting ones. I actually don't own one that fits. It's a skirt slip and is ridiculously long so I just wear it as a tube top under my dresses but it's too big so I have to strap it to my bra. Thankyou for reminding me that I need to buy a new one. I am the only 16 year old on the planet who seems to enjoy slips though. A lot of my friends just wear spandex under their clothes, my friend Mel is on a crew team and has just started wearing spandex under everything since she wears it at practice. I don't own any spandex, last time I wore a slightly see-through dress I wore my dance tights underneath. They had like 20000 holes in them but still, it worked. Anyways, I suggest these American Apparel gold lame shorts. My crew friend is buying these for practice, she goes to a rather posh all girls school which makes me want to laugh when I think of her wearing these to practice. Anyways, people are going to see that you are wearing spandex under the dress so why not make it flashy? The same crew friend was having a similar issue one day with a really cute yellow cotton J. Crew dress, she had just left the house wearing her normal underwear under the dress. So we spent half of our time looking for a nude thong (which I do not suggest wearing under a shear dress because it's kind of gross to see your butt crack but if you are in a bind then okay) when the lady at the boutique we were in said, "Oh, don't worry about it, just get some nude regular underwear. No one really cares."
And, for the most part, people don't really care that much if you can see a little outline of panty. Unless you are having Easter dinner at the Army Navy Club with your grandparents, just roll with it. Or maybe not? Either way, it's a good idea to invest in a good slip (try Nordstrom's) and a pair of spandex. Lame shorts, $28.

My Life: A Summary

Sorry for the lack of postage, I have run out of money. Honestly, I have started working again which is a mighty good thing but everytime I make money I just go out and spend it all on coffee and cheap (yet mighty delicious) sandwiches. It's awful and so depressing that I can't even think about posting on here.
I thought it would be nice and relaxing to do a little window shopping before work yesterday. It was not. Instead I found a bag that I really truely wanted (it's gold, only 60 something which means that if I cash my next pay check I can afford) and realised that window shopping is why I have no money. So I spent the rest of my time until work started looking at ugly clothes. It was really depressing.
Anyways, here is a bag that I will not be able to afford unless I stop shopping for 6 months (I hardly ever work so it's sad but true) so it's so out of my league that I can look at it lustfully and not get that aching feeling in my heart. Kind of like Brad Pitt. Not like Jim from The Office.
It's $695. Basically my perfect bag, very Mary Poppins if she had a wee bit more flair in her style (but with the whole floating tea thing why would she need more flair?).

I hardly ever talk about clothes that I actually own on here, it's mostly things that I lust after or wish that I had bought instead of some other thing. So, here are a few things that I've recently bought and love.

I love underwear. A lot. I spend a ridiculous amount of money on underwear each year but never have I loved a pair as much as these. They're comfortable, my butt doesn't accidentally eat them. And, compared to the underwear that I usually buy, they're pretty affordable. $12.

Okay, so I don't own this yet and it isn't even the color I'm getting it in but who cares. I make up the rules, I can break them. I'm buying it tomorrow, it's on sale but I had literally no money in my wallet when I tried it on today. I'm also getting it in black. It's amazing, fits perfectly and who doesn't love a little crochet summer dress? Me and my friends are getting dressed up to have dinner one night this week, I shall be wearing this dress. $79.95.

I bought this the first weekend of summer break and have worn it 30000 times since. It's the perfect summer shirt, comfortable and I don't have to wear a bra with it.
Okay, this was a pointless post. I don't spend money during the summer. If this were say the middle of the school year I would have atleast 20 things to write about. Damn the heat for making me frugal.

I was having coffee with friends today and at a nearby table there was a middle aged couple. They were wearing bad khakis (pleated) and polos (red for her, blue for him). Weirdly matching clothing aside, they were adorable. Each one had a laptop and every once in a while they would switch laptops and watch whatever video the other one had found. They were giggling the entire time and basically acting like little school kids. It was probably the cutest thing I have seen in...ever. So, laptop bags.

I officially suck at finding laptop bags. I mean, this looks like L.L. Bean designed it for a 6 year old to carry her lunch in. What the hell? People think that they can get $54.95 for it? I suppose if I found it at a garage sale I would buy it and then give to my best friend, regretting the $5 it would have cost to buy it. She would love the cheesiness of it.

This reminds me of the brown sneakers I bought in 7th grade and corduroys. It kind of reminds me of college students also. It's very boy-nerdesque. But in a good way. Seth Cohen would have this bag you know, if he got into Brown. My God was that last season awful. Whatever, it's $85.99.

If I had a laptop I would insist on owning this case. I know, I'm silly for making this post but a girl can dream. It's water resistant! And blue. 90% of my wardrobe is blue. Which is odd considering I don't think I'm wearing blue in any of the pictures on the header. I really enjoy the fact that one of the bullets in the description of this bag is, "recommended as a laptop case for women". Oh those silly kolobagsers. $99.

Okay, this bag is stunning. I would use it as a regular bag. The inside is pink satin, just looking at the pictures makes me feel girly and smiley. The strap is silk taffeta. I love this bag. $695.63. But for almost $700 it looks like I would get it dirty. Very dirty. My poor white shirts have been bleach-penned almost to oblivion.

Oh, Violet May London, how I love you! The minute I saw this case I couldn't help but think that it looked very smart. Yes, I actually thought to myself, "This bag looks smart!" Am I 80? Apparently so. Leather does bring out my interesting side. Okay, I did not mean it in that way. At all. I just really enjoy a great leather bag. Or jacket. And the inside is mint green satin. I seriously might cry tonight. I have found my perfect laptop case and I don't even have a laptop. Yet. $899.68.

Weekend Rockstars

I spent all of Tuesday outside and in a bikini.
I now have a stomach the color of a tomato.
This is all just a little painful and I would rather not even think about clothes right now.
So, I bought these (left) sunglasses at Urban Outfitters the other day. Well, actually, I was forced into buying them by my friends (except for my best friend, she was oddly silent and would not back me up on the unflatteringness of them). They're incredibly cool but look awful on me. Or, as the guy from Sephora said, "Where's your Atari?" I am truly in love with that man. Mainly because he agreed that they were a waste of $18. So, I returned them. But, the thing is, I am an addict when it comes to sunglasses. I have a vast collection ranging from aviators I found on the ground during a camping trip to a mildly expensive pair that I wore swimming and now look like they cost me $2.

I actually almost bought these last summer. They're so Mary-Kate and Ashley I think I might vomit. But they're cute. I love that they're hand painted and, well, I've always been into granny glasses. I want to wear these with a peasant top and take LSD while singing songs from Hair. It's beautiful. $24.

I've seen these at 5 million different stores and at each one I tried to get my friend Amanda to buy them but she refused. Even though they looked great on her. I think she might be too much of a hippy for neon. I used to have a pair of fake black ray bans that I got at a Bat Mitzvah (joys of private school). They looked terrible on me but, oh if they didn't, I would have been the coolest little 13 year old because I wore those damn things all the time. $9.

American Apparel has the best sunglasses. I have fallen in love with every single pair. I really can't get over it. I'm sure that by the time school starts again everyone will have a pair, but perhaps not? $50.

When The Morning Light Comes Streaming in

I hate to do two similar posts in a row but graduation was today and that got me thinking about white dresses and how I really truely love them but don't own any. Here are some of my favorites.

J. Crew. Again. You can't really tell in this picture but the details are what really make this dress for me. there's a lovely little swiss-dot pattern and the ruffles are totally adorable. The first time I saw this dress I thought someone in the graduating class would wear it today, but I was wrong. It's so perfect for a nice summer day. $148.

When I think dresses I think Anthropologie. It's a fact of life, Anthropologie has kickass dresses. They're always very Mrs. Cleaver on a hot date. I love it. A lot. $128.

I know, it's not a traditional graduation dress but booh to tradition. This dress is hot, although I couldn't say that much about the model. Seriously, get a grip honey. I do have a thing for short dresses. But you know, they're just more comfortable when you're hot and sweaty and today was definitely a hot and sweaty day. $328.

I'm going to an off Broadway show in NYC this summer, and I want to find a dress to wear to it. Not too fancy, but something chic and evening-ish. Maybe black. I was wondering if you could suggest anything, and nothing horribly expensive?

Oh the theater! How I love it (I'm in a play currently, we're doing a little Neo-Futurists kind of dealy tomorrow, it's exciting). Anyways, on to dresses. Well, you should probably go to Forever 21 if you want some inexpensive and simple. Or inexpensive and slutty. Two types of clothing every girl should understand the need for. However, I love looking at dresses so here we go.
This dress (top right) is straight up hot. It's black, it's tight, and oh thank you American Apparel for letting me see her nipples. Please wear a bra if you wear this dress. A nice one, a nude colored one (funny story, today I realised that I am the exact same color as my nude colored bra. that, my friends, is talent). $32.

When I saw this dress I thought to myself, "That is so legit I can hardly control myself." I overuse of the word legit is starting to trouble me. But, really, this is such a perfect dress. It's devilishly simple but the knot sends to another, more interesting level. Just wear this with black heels and a large bangle (like in the picture) and you're set. Really, I love you Urban Outfitters. And I'm actually going to by this dress, unlike the majority of the things I put on here. Oh and they have this in more evening appropriate colors, I'm just going through a green thing. $48. P.S. I am totally in love with that model's hair.

I love shapes like this on dresses. I mean, my butt turns them into porn but still they're quite lovely. So if you're skinny then way to go and get this. I love the print and everything about this dress. Of course, it's out of your price range (unless $400 is not a lot for a dress) but Urban Outfitters has loads of dresses along the same lines. $460.

I had the most amazing dream on Friday night about a green cashmere sweater. I mean, I was also being attacked by this crazy circular fish but that sweater was the softest most beautiful green cashmere ever.
I have a feeling that it was all just a manifestation of exam stress and the realisation that I have yet to turn in my 4th quarter independent exercise proposal. I had an intense need to go to my happy place. And apparently it's cashmere.
I couldn't find a cute cashmere sweater online but then again it's almost summer (and I wasn't looking that much). Vince V-Neck cashmere sweater, $168.

More Beautiful

J. Crew recently arrived at the local mall. Everyone is incredibely happy about it, except for my dear friend Olivia who buys all of her clothes at J. Crew. Now, everyone owns atleast one article of clothing that she has. Which is why shopping exclusively at one store tends to be a bad idea, but whatever.
These J. Crew shorts are...the shiznit. I can't believe I wrote that, but I did and that's what we are stuck with. I went into J. Crew twice today and each time I stared longingly at these shorts. Some of my friends think that it's funny that I adore J. Crew, mainly because it's not my style at all. I mean, I'm wearing a Heatherette mini-skirt as I type this but I love it all the same. J. Crew shorts, $68.
Another thing that I fell in love with today? Gap's men's t-shirts. Super comfortable, especially their stretchy ones. Maybe it's because for the last 4 days I was wearing t-shirts (oh the joys of camping...) but I've rediscovered my love for them. Especially v-necks. Plus the two hairy chested old men who came to my work yesterday wearing low cut v-neck t-shirts certainly helped. It was sexy. $16.50 online. Cheaper in store.

P.S. I am a sarcastic person. Hairiness is not sexy. I just thought you guys should become aware of that.

Mondays are Like Tuesdays and Tuesdays are Like Wednesdays

So, prom was on Friday. It was all sorts of goodness (James Bond theme, poker tables, chocolate fountain, fantastic dj). I got my make-up done at Benefit and fell in love with these products, I haven't been able to keep them off my face since:

Lip tint is just flat out amazing. It makes me look like my lips are just naturally that red. It's a beautiful thing. The fact that they paired it with some clear gloss and it all fits in my purse/lunch bag (use the closest shopping bag for my lunch/cell/ipod/make-up at school) has jut made me fall madly in love with the Benefit ladies. $18.

As a general rule, I avoid blush. When some one has pink undertones in their skin, putting pink on their face IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. But I love the Georgia stuff, it make me look cute and normal. $26.

When I want to highlight my cheek bones I turn to my trusty Lancome Star Bronzer (it's one of those brushes where you push the button and the bronzer gets on the brush). But High Beam works ridiculously better, my friend Laura said that my skin looked "vitaminy" today because of the High Beam. It's shimmery and light but, since it's an actual highlighter it makes my cheeks look fab. Although it's kind of weird that it comes in a nailpolish bottle. $22. The lady doing my make-up said that it was, "A super-model in a bottle."

In other news, tomarrow morning I am waking up a the ass-crack of dawn and going on a not-so-lovely camping trip with my school. I'll be gone for the next 4 days visiting museums, not showering, and learning about the wonders of nature. In the mean time, send my an e-mail telling me about your favorite make-up. I don't want to have to actually write anything when I get back.

Put Your Feet Back Down on the Ground

Someone wanted men's fashion, I don't know men's fashion.
I was at the mall with my best friend's boyfriend the other day and tried to get him to buy this (right) jacket, he refused, but the manager tried to give me an application (jokingly, but still). He kept on shouting about it being $92 but it looked great on him.
I don't understand how the majority of boys I know dress, but really this outfit is fantastic. If only it was what he actually wore (he has come a long way though, it used to be just awful).
I do have two guy friends with all around great style, Gerry and Eric (left).
Eric's wearing real Ray Ban's, not the knock-offs that recently showed up at Forever 21 (seriously, that store has taken over this little blog) and a Lacoste sweater he found at Goodwill. Actually, most of his clothes are from his mom's closet or Goodwill but he pulls it off amazingly. But he's an indie kid like that.
That picture doesn't really showcase Gerry's style as much as this one does on the bottom. A lime green t-shirt,a charcoal and purple striped cashmere sweaterand $2 sunglasses from Italy are a perfect mix. I know for a fact that Gerry really works on his style (he constantly calls...everyone asking what he should wear the next day) but there's no shame in that, he looks fly. Now I just feel kind of creepy making a post about my guy friends. I'm done.

The Week in Retrospect

This is what I remember from this past week:
1. Sleeping. a lot.
2. Managing to get a 96% on a paper about street children in Brazil despite the fact that I quoted Fight Club
3. I woman touring my school while wearing Apple Bottom jeans and an Apple Bottom jean jacket. I was kind of frightened.
4. Forever 21 has the best t-shirts. Hands down. Nice solid v-necks, very American Apparel but without the sketchy "do they or do they not have sweatshops?" controversy. You can basically garantee that Forever 21 has some sketchy labor practices.
5. Scheming to buy this shirt and take pictures with red dixie cups while wearing it, purely to rebel against the administration at my school and their sheisty crack-downs.
5. This is the alternative to the Hawaiian shirt. Don't ask. Okay, ask. My best friend's boyfriend has a thing for Hawaiian shirts. I may or may not have ripped one off of him and hid it in a ceiling tile. I want him to wear that American Apparel shirt.

All Dolled Up

Make-up appointments have been made, hair planned out, and dresses picked. But, who cares? Here are my favorite picks for prom dresses (I'll post a picture of me in mine after prom... so in 2 weeks).

The front of this dress is 10X sexier. But, seriously, the t-strap back is fabulous. This is the perfect black dress. If I had seen this earlier this would be my prom dress. Shopbop says, "This dress is pure, sexy seduction." Damn straight. $198.

Alexander McQueen owns my heart, which means that by the transitive property McQ does too. Remember on Project Runway when the guy with the neck tattoo made that really cool yellow plaid couture dress? That's what this reminds me of. It may have a bubble hem line but, it's an interesting one which is what gives this dress it's charm. $543.

Atleast two girls at my school were planning on getting this dress, but the sophomore won out over the freshman in the end. It may be cliche to wear Betsey Johnson to prom, but there's a reason why everyone does it, her dresses are perfect. Hello? This is probably my favorite babydoll dress ever. Or atleast in the top 10. $315.

I really dislike floor length dresses. Traditional prom dresses make me want to kill myself, honestly. I love this dress, it's short and has an interesting design. Unfortunately, it only comes in bronze snakeskin now but still, ooh and aah over the prettiness. $324.

People don't wear green enough. This is unnaceptable, especially in spring. I love the soft layers of this dress, and the pink bow straps. It takes a preppy standard and makes it...normal. Thank you Erotokritos.

I got an e-mail asking for "Summer French-boho clothes" in England (I think it was England, I accidentally deleted the e-mail so I'm just gonna go with Europe). Basically the only clothes I wear during the summer are French kinda boho (that or French whore). Which is just odd since that's not how I would describe my normal style, but I like it.

From Urban Europe. It's just a gorgeous dress, can be worn in loads of different ways for people of all different styles. I'm assuming it's cotton because, why would it not be? Apparently Europeans don't like product descriptions. £48.

So, like I should make a post. Yeah?
It was really nice and warm, until today when I decided to wear a mini skirt and one of the 500000 tops I bought from Urban. I don't even shop there that much. I was freezing regardless of the top. My flimsly jacket was no match for the elements and my legs are quite possibly frostbitten. Anyways, let's get back to the warm weather. The other day I realised that the only shorts I own are incredibely skanky and/or have light blue paint on them. This is sad.

Oh wow. I love these, and they're incredibely skanky (well not so much this picture. just be glad I didn't pick the one with the girl sticking her butt out). I think that this explains my problem. Well, that and the fact that I actually own these shorts in plain old cotton (which for some reason they aren't selling anymore?). American Apparel running shorts in kelly green, $18.

I apparently really like short shorts. It must be the amount of Barbarella I was exposed to as a young girl. But, these are more Tank Girl than Barbarella. Whatever, man. I think I owned shorts like this in the second grade. I still love them. $90.

Actually, I normally don't wear shorts. Generally when it's hot out I wear skirts or capri-like things. I have a large bottom, it's difficult to find shorts that don't make me look like a video dancer. I have a feeling these won't. Probably because of the significant distance between the hem and buttcheeks. Thank you Elevenses. $68.

This summer I am working four jobs. I am a cashier at a local grocery store, ateaching assistant at an Elementary school, a cashier/seller at Borders Books Stores, and I babysit. None of these jobs require uniforms.

Jean capris are your new best friends, the pair on the left are $231 at Shopbop. Probably out of your price-range, but you get the idea, well fitting and comfortable. Something like the Ernest Sewn Harlen Ankle Length Jean would work too, if you rolled them up at the bottom. Seriously, don't walk around looking like a tool. You can get less expensive capris, a lot like these at your mall. These are just a suggestion. I know I said that before, but some people don't actually read the entire post and I feel the need to repeat myself.
Please buy this shirt on the left. It's gorgeous, it'll look fab with jean capris. It's perfect. When you're teaching you can just wear it with a nice cream jacket but it's also perfect for hanging out. $58. Something like this will also work. Just buy comfortable, cotton tops that look nice but you can also layer with a light jacket for when you need to look a little bit more put together. If I actually bothere to get dressed in the summer this is what I would wear. Shoeswise? Black ballet flats and white open toed flats, hit up all the department stores near you.

Quilted. Not new. Chanel's been doing it for ages and recently it's been incredibley popular. I've just gotten into it. Here are my favorites.

Jo de Mer's quilted make-up bags are so shiny and awesome I can hardly stand it. These genuinely make me happy, I hope you feel the same way.

These past few years, Steve Madden can do no wrong. There was that brief period of time in the 90's where they made those awful platform flipflops and other equally heinous shoes but these ballet flats make up for it. They're simple and classy and the quilting adds that nice little detail. $59.95.

Chanel. Duh. How could I resist? Besides, this the the most rocking quilted clutch to come out of Chanel in...ever. I must own it. Eventually. Some day I will.

I'm back a day early. How progressive is that? Very, my friend. But, how could I wait a day to write about these American Apparel leggings? It is physical impossible. Really. I want these leggings. I need these leggings. They're shiny and tacky and all things wonderful. And what's even better is that they own up to their tackiness. They're called the Vegas leggings for christ's sake. I mean, if they weren't $42 I would own them now and be wearing them as I write this. But, honestly, who would pay over $20 for a pair of leggings that are a) embarrasing b) don't allow your legs to breathe and c) probably make your claves look huge. I still want them though. It's been frightfully cold and the the homework load intense. (Thomas More's Utopia has taken over my life!) Anyways, let's discuss boots. The only pair I have are some Steve Madden cowboy boots. They go with literally NOTHING I own. This is upsetting.

I found these while internet window shopping with my friend Tori during our free block today. WHAT? It's so Pat Benetar I kind of love it. $152 is too much for a pair of booties that I'll wear once, if even that. But they're so exciting I can hardly control myself.

My mother hates suede boots. Really, it's crazy. Paul & Joe make suede even more amazing. Even she would love them. Or not. I'd wear these with my skin-tight skinny jeans and oversized sweater. Comfortable, and warm. $815. Right. I can't believe people think I actually buy the majority of the stuff I mention here.

I can't believe I'm posting python boots. It's not like they're that amazing looking either. Something about Marc Jacobs just speaks to my soul. Maybe it's just the 3.75 inch heel that has me so in lust. But, if someone would like to buy these for me just holler. I almost said holla. That is horrifying. $775.

These are the boots of my dreams. Honestly, whenever I imagine myself wearing boots it's these and I'm wearing my sparkly black tank top, red headband (bought it at a street vendor down town, it was an amazing day), and the most comfortable jeans I have owned in the entire universe (Ralph Lauren). Of course, I think I might like the black leather better but there's something incredibly cool about blue leather on the right shoe. $209. I just might have to blow my paycheck on them.

I know these aren't boots. But I hardly ever wear boots, this post is not a true representation of moi without some platform shoes. With a 4.75 inch heel no less. From....Easy Spirit? Yes, how ridiculous is that. That Tara Subkoff is quite amazing. If I owned these I'd have worn them yesterday when my school went to see Cabaret (amazing. men in bras will never cease to make me happy) with my men's-style dress shirt and American Apparel skirt. $430

Today in chemistry I was bored, as usual and felt my hair for lack of anything better to do.
I was instantly in heaven, my hair was so soft and nice.
Hitting my friend Gerryy who was sitting next to me, I said, "Gerry! Feel my hair! It's so soft."
"No, that's so weird!"
"Please?"
"Fine, feel mine first."
He took off his hat and I felt his hair, "Eww! You're hair is like a brillopad! Feel mine."
"Mine is not!"
"Yes it is. Feel my hair!"
He tapped my head.
"You didn't even feel it!" I shouted at him.
I grabbed his hand and put it on my hair, "See?" I said.
"Yeah, it's pretty soft. That was weird Leith."
Seriously though, it was crazy soft today. I'm kind of really in love with all my hair products.

I use the Shine Release shampoo from Brilliant Brunette by John Frieda and the Light Reflecting conditioner. They smell yummy and work like a charm. Some one once asked me why I used Brilliant Brunette because my hair is "black, not brunette". I am, in fact a brunette. I just happen to have really dark hair. I have red high lights in the summer, that's not black.

If I have some intense hair damage I'll use the fortifying deep conditioning masque from Garnier Fructis. It's great for dealing with chlorine and it works even better if you heat in the microwave for about 5-10 seconds. It works on a wide variety of hair types too, my best friend, Amanda, has curly hair and she swears by it.

I was reading the Delias catalogue with my friend Liz before lit the other day. Once class started we, naturally, put it away. But our teacher requested we take it out. Picking it up, he started talking about Dante's Inferno and how the catalogue represented the blank banner the souls that neither heaven or hell wanted followed for eternity.
Which brings me to the point of this post.
Let's talk about Delia. She's a girl who exclusively buys her clothes from Delias (okay, let's be honest, she probably has a few from Forever 21) and you can tell. Chances are, if you saw an outfit in the catalogue she'd have worn it at least once.
The freshmen class at my school is plagued with these girls.
Really, I have nothing wrong with buying a few clothes from one store. But, my God, at least be somewhat original. They may look cute but, it's no fun to have everyone know where you bought all your clothes, nor is it fun to wear the same thing every damn day.

I was really hoping I wouldn't have to do this.
But, it appears I do. Especially since there was a big hoopla over my last post.
OH MY GOD I SAID THAT PEOPLE SHOULD EXERCISE. It was a joke. Yes, it was not that funny. Yes, it's hard to tell when some one is being sarcastic on the internet. But (and I had sincerely hoped that people had gotten used to me by now) I am sarcastic the majority of the time. It's my survival technique.
Besides, I'm a size 6 for pants and I can still fit into a size 2 dress (although a huge part of this is the fact that I am mucho small on top). Have you seen my rear or my hips? I don't believe so and if you have this could be a bit awkward. Unless I know you, of course.
Please, don't take offense at everything that I say. I am cruelest to those I love the most. Unless I really hate you, then I am just a full-frontal bitch.
Basically, do not over-react. Yes, I am full on drama queen but seriously. I don't go and cry because some one said something that I don't agree with online. Please take a reality check and calm down. Thank you.

I'm a horrible person, I have abonded my little corner of the internet for educational pursuits (yay for readings about Lay Investiture in the medieval ages!) and work.
But, I'm back. For a short period of time atleast. I'm probably going to be spending the rest of the week working on an essay about Chaos and Order in medieval England and doing random art history readings. But, let's forget about that and talk about homecoming dresses.

This is such a Leith dress. Which is funny because me+strapless=nipplegate 2.0. Seriously, I am quite small in the chest area. I know it's not your classic homecoming dress but I like it. And I would wear it, if it weren't for the previously mentioned fiasco. $425 from Adam + Eve. Which is insane. No one buys actually nice dresses for homecoming. Forget I ever mentioned it. And the model looks totally constipated.

I don't care what anyone says, this is the perfect party dress. Except for the whole bubblehem. What is with all these dresses being almost perfect. I hate this. I'm just gonna stop talking about this dress. $330.

I really love this dress. I love the hair too. What is my obsession with hair lately? Anywho, the only thing wrong with this dress is that it only comes in size two. Which really isn't so sad. Get off your butt and go exercise. I have a bit of a fat ass and I can still fit into size 2 dresses. And, OH EM GEE! Eva Mendes wore it. $295.

About 20,000 people are gonna see this dress and say "THAT'S SO UGLY! It's a grandma dress!" and I'm going to sit here thinking to myself, "You are a moron." Maybe I'm in a bit of a bad mood? I do believe so. Whatever, with the right body type you could look unbelievably hot in this dress. APC pleated dress, $237.

I give up. I'm too tired and in too much of a bad mood to deal with this. I'm gonna either wear a black dress I bought at Urban Outfitters last year (I'm so up to date) or this will be my latest purchase.

Because It's Raining and I'd Rather Think of Lovely Spring Days

Remember the days when zebra print was hot and leopard print was just a little mini trend that only a select few were part of? Oh how I miss those days. Don't get my wrong, I love leopard prints more than is necessary but I don't need to walk by the shoe department of any given store and see a whole table full of leopard print shoes.
That look exactly the same and cost exactly the same.
Get your acts together department stores. Enough of this nonesense!
But I do kind of really, really love this entire outfit from the Nanette Lepore Spring/Summer show. I get the feeling that many a leopard print dress will be in attendence at next year's prom.
Note the bright accesories though, this is how leopard print should be worn. With flair and fun, I don't think anyone in their right mind can take leopard print seriously so don't even pretend. The first rule of fashion is to have fun with it, and you can really do that with a little leopard.

P.S. The hair at the Marc by Marc Jacobs show? Adorable. I can't wait until my hair is finally long again so I can do it.

I love the color palettes for spring/summer 2007. So many blues and greys and loads of primary colors at their best. They perfectly embody spring and summer. With the dreary rain and the sunny days, it just makes perfect sense.
I adore this Rag & Bone short/jacket set. Yigal Azrouel's skinny jeans are perfect, not too skinny and a little boot cut that makes the skinny trend not so tired. The heels it's paired with are pretty damn fly too. I also love this red Jenni Kayne coat and the Karen Walker platforms.

When I first saw these shoes I was shocked. They're Juicy Couture, there should be some velour on them. But there really isn't. It's all camel suede and leather. Juicy has really stepped it up, their ads are quite amazing too.
Anywho, these shoes would be perfect with a denim mini and white blouse. Simple but still youthful and fun. If I had these shoes I would have worn them today (it was my first day back at school). If this was Alice and Wonderland they would have a tag that said, "Buy me." or "Steal me." it's all relative (no I'm not saying go out and steal this. Yesterday I went on a big shopping trip with my grandparents (awesome, I know) and the whole time my grandmother was going on about how red shoes and black and gold bags are hot for fall. I couldn't agree more. Here are my favorite red shoes.

I bought these ballet flats way back in July and I've been in love with them ever since, which is why I mentioned them in my last question post. Get them for $20 from Urban Outfitters.

There are probably a billion platform red peep toe heels out there. But these are soft and I spent 5 minutes with my friend Carly admiring them. And you know, Steve Madden is really original. $99.95.

Patent leather maryjanes. How very back to school. But, with a platform wedge they're just amazing. I love Christian Louboutin, how could you not? Buy them from Neiman Marcus for $710.

I've gotten quite a few e-mails (3...shut up) asking for help finding school bags. Don't you people have bags? Have you just started school. ARE YOU 5 YEARS OLD? Now I'm going to have 20 people telling me I'm a bitch. Whatever. I understand your want because I love buying bags (you know the last time I got one was my birthday. How tragic is that?).

In my last post I featured a Fred Flare bag to carry stuff for school. This tote is as equally cool and from Fred Flare too. What a coincidence. It's kind of reminds me of those Andy Warhol tote bags from Urban Outfitters, but not as annoying (I know you bought one Carly, and I love it. But I'm sick of seeing them everywhere). Plus, this has French on it. You know, I took French for six years and I have no clue what that little duck is saying. I promise I'm not stupid, I just don't get along with conjugating verbs in a foreign language. Oooh, the website says that the duck is saying, "Let me kiss you sweetie." Too bad ducks don't have lips. There are some problems with this bag though. People are going to ask you what it says and it'll get hella dirty. Gross man. It's $24.

I'm not going to lie. I like Chloe bags. I wish I owned one. This bag (it's named Betty, that's so cute) makes me want to hop on the bag of a motorcycle while drinking a peppermint mocha. It's girly and tough. Perfect. It's 12 inches tall and 11 inches wide, making it perfect to hold school books and the front pockets look damn handy (ipod, cellphone, pens). If you ignore the fact that it is $1,550 it's perfect for school. Hey, atleast it's less than my tuition. Okay, I'm just going to move on from this bag because the more I look at it the more I love it and now I'm super depressed.

I was wondering if you could help me out. I'm going to a "benefit/foundation thing" at a hotel downtown in mid/late September. So it will be cooler out. I need to find an appropriate/respectful dress (up to ~ $125) that is at least knee-length with substantial sleeves. One that is very pretty, of course, and not too drab, as I'm in high school. I've been looking, but it's kinda hard. It can't be black tie/evening party or summery. More business-y. So I was thinking along the lines of Diane von Furstenberg (wrap dresses!), but obviously that is wayy out of the price range. Please help?

I thought this would be easy. I mean, there are millions of dresses out there. However, it wasn't. The dress on the left doesn't have substantial sleaves but it still is a great basic dress that can be worn a lot, pair it with a nice button-down sweater and you're set for the night. It's by Velvet Torch and you can buy it from Nordstrom's for $48. The shirtdress on the left is a little more casual, but if you wear it with some red pumps and gold jewelry you'll look outstanding. It's $128 and you can buy it from Anthropologie.

I have a serious problem in the shoe department. I like Chuck Taylors and I would buy them but it's like EVERYONE wears them here. I don't want to be a clone or wear clone shoes if you know what I mean. What alternative solutions are there? I saw a great pair of ballet shoes on the TOPSHOP website and at the top they look like Chucks but unfortunately you can't order them if you don't live in England. That's so mean! I sent TOPSHOP an e-mail but they only sent me another link where you can order stuff and it's supposed to be international. But again I can't order anything here. Do you think it would be a solution to wear fake Chucks? Because everyone else wears the "real" ones. But that might look cheap. Dunno.

The amazing thing about Chuck Taylors is that you can totally customize them, add song lyrics you like or paint on them. Don't buy the fake ones, you'll definitely look cheap and they don't last long. I once bought a fake pair just for when I wanted to chill out and they fell apart in 2 months. Besides, you won't stand out if you have the fake version of what everyone is wearing. Why don't you just buy regular ballet flats? There are so many different types of shoes out there why not try someting completely new? But, if you insist on the almost-chuck taylor look why not try these pointy toed mary-janes from Sugar. They're $19.99 from Urban Outfitters.

Welcome to my life. My school was built on a farm and whenever it rains it's mud city. I like the Burberry Novacheck rain boots, but seriously, I would never pay $145 for a pair of rubber boots that I treck through the mud in. L.L. Bean has some cute rain boots, like the pair on the left. They're only $49 and come in stripes too. I have a friend who goes to a school with a strict dress code, but the one thing that they allow you to go crazy on are rain boots. She bought a really groovy pair from Nordstrom's but she's currently out of town so I have no idea what brand it was. I will most definitely tell you guys when she gets back.

Say hello to your new best friend, Puma. I have a pair of white an purple ones that I always wear to go running. They're amazingly comfortable and they look good too. You can get the Speed Cat for $75. If you want something flashier though you must go with the gold L.A.M.B. Love sneakers. They're absolutely amazing. I tried them on and they were, honestly, incredibley comfortable. I was ready to run out of the store with them on. But I'm against shop lifting. $149.

Ballet flats! In bright colors too. Really, just buy these in every color. The red is actually much brighter in real life. If you see pretty flats that you like? Buy them and they'll look amazing with your tights.

Blue eyeshadow, when taken to extremes, looks horrible. I live near Baltimore, I should know. If you feel a little uneasy just go to a make-up counter and ask one of the ladies for tips.

I have the same problem at my school. Invest in a warm wool coat and lots of nice cashmere sweaters. Wearing tights under your jeans is a great way to keep warm too (plus if your jeans have holes in them it's fun to wear bright colors underneath). Cardigans like the one of the right are really useful too ($36). Most importantly, you're going to want to layer. You'll the hang of it after a while and pretty soon you'll find where the best radiators are so you can get warm inbetween classes.

Welcome to everyone in highschool's problem. I spent ages looking for one for myself and settled with a bag I found in the bag of my closet that my grandfather got for me when he went to England ages ago. It's big, plastic, and says Harrods all over it. The most important thing? It's big and plastic (hence waterproof). This bag on the left from Fred Flare is roomyish (10.5”x15") and adorable. I could see Molly, the American Girl Doll, going to school with her saddle shoes carrying this bag. It's canvas, so it's sturdy and nice looking. Woohoo. $48.

When I went to public school for one year there were a slew of fights (this was completely amazing to me since there were 0 fights at the school I had attended before) . There was controversy about one of them because supposedly one of the guys had brass knuckles and the cops had a tape of the fight. You know where I'm going with this. Well, the guy didn't have brass knuckles in the fight but he still scared me. I had to see him everyday after school selling cigarettes on the corner and staring at everyone like a pervert. That is just 1 reason why wiggers really annoy me.
Anyways, I still have an undying love for brass knuckles. Why? I do not know. But considering I won't be getting into any tussles in the near future I will just wear this necklace. This past week I've had a strong urge to wear a pretty white summer dress. I don't know why I don't own one. Here are some that I like.

Guess where this dress is from. No, it's not Urban Outfitters! Yes, it is Anthropolgie. I need to start looking at other stores. Anywho, this dress is amazing. It's white, it's got a little eyelet overlay and it's called Beach Blanket Babydoll. I like it because it would hide the fact that I ordered half a dozen corn bread rolls at Boston Market last night.
HALF A DOZEN. I didn't think it was humanly possible. $148.

Cream is the same thing as white for the purpose of this post. I love this dress. The only problem is that the sleeves kind of remind me of Silence of the Lambs. I need to stop watching that movie. But seriously, this modernizes the kimono shape and just looks fly. Thank you Rachel Pally and thank you Shopbop for having free UPS ground shipping (which I would totally take advantage of if I had a job and had money) buy this dress for $176.

I am told this dress looks amazing in red. In white, it kind of looks like a dress I would wear when I don't feel like getting dressed or wearing a bra. Which actually makes it perfect for summer. $36 from American Apparel. If you are a student you can get 15% off.

I'm against the fact that the brand that makes this dress is called As U Wish. People need to spell out words. But I do like to think that it's a Princess Bride reference which makes the brand name not completely pathetic. This dress is called a ballerina dress. It's quite appropriate, I would have a hard time stopping myself from dancing while wearing this dress. Although there is some tulle it's not hideous, which makes the world a nicer place. $68.

I'm so productive, I painted the shutters on my house and then I sat on my butt for an hour and a half (maybe?) and watched Diva. This is what my life is like during the summer.
All right that was a bit of a lie, I do go to concerts and whatnot but for the most part I plan my day on how to stay in air-conditioning.
Here are your questions, because I don't have to leave my nice cold room to answer them.

leith, i seriously need your help!...my school is getting standardized dress (aka khackis and polos) for the first year ever and i cant find any way to look original or any brands that fit right :[

What is it with school's these days? This is the second question I've gotten on this matter. Try this but I might as well elaborate. You can look original by adding jewelry (skip the pearls for gold bangles, layer necklaces, etc.) or wearing a sheer polo with a colored tank top underneath. If that's not allowed then petition. Seriously, petitions are your best friend. I once convinced my mom to not go to my normal Friday night hangout by using a petition. I also suggest going crazy with your shoes. Can you wear sweater-vests? Just add interesting things to your outfit and if you get in trouble for violating the dress code just explain that you are following it, because you're wearing khakis and a polo. Have a sit-in if you have to. People do that all the time at my school.

I relise you get many many many questions from people asking you for style advice so if you dont have time to answer this I'll understand. Anyways, I've been serching for atleast a month now for black flats, preferably peep toe and kinda summery with no luck. They would go with more than half my wardrobe but somehow what I thought to be a very simple staple item just doesnt exist! Would love some sugestions.

Calm down! Hardly anyone dresses up for camp dances. The nicest outfit I ever had for one was a black skirt and cotton red halter top. I ended up ditching my shoes for flipflops by the time the dance even started. You'll be fine in just a denim skirt and a cute top which you probably have thousands of. Of course, you can get a little bit more dressed up (and who doesn't want an excuse to buy something new?). Something like this purple C&C California dress with black heels and some long gold necklaces look would lovely (that orange tank top isn't part of the dress). The dress is available in white, black, and madame (the color shown) for $68 but poppy, slate, bonnet, battlefield, and oaks are on sale for $47.60. Don't worry about spending basically half of your money on a dress though, you are bound to wear this thousands of other places. And you can probably get a dress just like this for much less at Forever 21 and the like.

This morning I got a strange urge to start knitting so I looked all over my room for my knitting bag (hey, it was the cool thing to do when I was in 6th grade. we would knit and sing sk8ter boi) and started work on the most pitiful purple scarf ever. Which is why I'm showing items that could very well be knitted that you would look lovely in for fall. Really, August starts tomarrow and then it's September. I'm excited.

When I went to Ireland in the first grade I wore a green sweater that was a lot like this with my purple fuzzy pullover. I was all about the layering. And it was as heinous as you can imagine. Anyways, when I went to Anthropologie a couple weeks ago with my Mom (that was a bit of an event because I have to go all the way to Washington D.C. to go there) I stared at this sweater for about 5 minutes. Which is amazing because I used to think I had ADD. Honestly though, it's the perfect cold weather sweater. It makes me want to go to a ski lodge and sit in front of a fire, of course if I wore it right now I would probably sweat so much it would slip off of me. $128.

Okay, the only reason why I made this post is because I really, really like that sweater from Anthropolgie. But I'm just going to post my favorite sweaters now. Like the Lacoste sweaters. I don't understand how anyone on Earth could not love a Lacoste sweater. Even when I was going through my weird grungey phase I liked them. They're as comfortable as a sweatshirt but not ugly. This one's a bit more stylized and has a bateau neckline. Which means it's more expensive than the classic sweater, $135 from Neiman Marcus.

I've kind of gotten off the knitten path (hahaha, oh you know you think I'm funny) but I can't not mention cashmere v-neck sweaters. I used to have a million of sweaters like this in different colors but one winter I took them out of storage and they all had little holes in them. That was one of the darkest days of my life. Really though, if you have a closet full of sweaters like this you always have something to wear that's a little more dressed up than a t-shirt and jeans. Ya-Ya cashmere sweater, $286.

I have a kind of obsession with clear lip gloss. In fact, the only lip gloss I've ever owned that was not clear was Cry Baby by Chanel. Anyways, the reason why I aime clear lippy so much is because I put it on constantly and since it's clear you have 0 chance of messing up and looking like a drunken slut. I tend to overthink things, okay.
So yes, I was at the mall to see Pirates of the Carribean the other day (Keira is such a ho in that movie) and my friends and I decided to stop at the Benefit counter where I bought this lipgloss. And I honestly love it. When I first tried put it on it kind of reminded me of some Clinique lip gloss that I used to have (and will never buy again because I lost it on my school bus and then found it a couple a months later under my seat, since basically only 4 other people rode my bus and it was 6:40 in the morning I put it on and it tasted like rotten tangerines and now I can't help but think of rotten fruit when I use their lipgloss) but Benefit's is definitely lighter and less goopy, but it lasts just as long. But it! Love it, use it for only $14.

Last night while I was out with some of my friends I saw a girl with a silver sequined mini dress on, blue tights, and black flats. Normally I would get incredibly excited at the sight of this (and a little jealous too, who doesn't want a sequined mini dress?) but not this time (why would I be telling this story?). No, this girl had on that amazing ensemble and...a black corset. I was confused and shocked and didn't know what to say. She was wearing a dress with sequins on it! What more did it need?
This tragedy of an outfit is a perfect example of people layering too much. I see it all the time now. Calm down people! You do not need to wear all of your clothes at once. Do you really need to wear yet another shirt? I do not think so. I think there should be a mandatory 2 shirts maximum rule put in place with a clause about sequined and other embelished tops stating that you do not layer those (unless it's kinda see through and you have a tank top on underneath). Of course, sometimes more than two layers can look fine but people just get so carried away nowadays and end up wearing 5 shirts. Maybe we should only have the rule for the next 3 years, I'm sure after 3 years people's senses will come to them.

It seems that I only answer your questions when I've had hardly any sleep. Oh well. I'm quite introspective when I'm tired.

Okay, so, I kind of have two questions. First is this, for fall/ winter there are only two things i want: a good jacket (prefferably military) and a good pair of boots (not cowboy, below the knee, no lower or higher) WHERE can I find these?

I am so glad you brought up boots. I'm probably the pickiest person when it comes to them. I really like these from Miss Sixty. I think they come up below the knee, but Urban Outfitters' website doesn't have a picture of them on a model (or maybe they do. I'm not running on much right here). They are $278 so if you want something less expensive you can always go with Delias' Angie boot for $79.
And now for the jacket. Last fall I got a great military-esque jacket from Urban Outfitters and honestly, I'm still completely in love with it so I completely understand your want of a military jacket.
I really like this khaki band master jacket by Coffee Shop on the left. Although it's structured it's made out of cotton which makes it great for layering (hoodies anyone?). If you don't like how light it is (does anyone remember to wash their jacket?) you can always go for it in olive. Even though it's really kind of hideous. It's available at Nordstrom's for $31.90.
I happen to be in love with this Z military jacket on the right. Heradling from the Full Metal Jacket era of military jackets its definitly more modern than most other military jackets that are for sale but its also perfect for winter/fall and with no doubt you will be protected from those harsh winter winds better than you would be with the Coffee Shop jacket. Get it from 80's Purple for $160.

Could you please give me some different ideas for shoes with skinny jeans? I love the ballet flats look with the jeans, but I live in Florida where we have MAYBE two weeks of the entire year that I can actually wear closed toe shoes with jeans/pants without sweating to death! I've tried casual flip flops, but can't seem to make those look good either. Please help! Also, what brand of skinny jeans would you recommend? I bought a pair from Old Navy because I wasn't sure if I would like them or not and my husband says they make my ass look "long." If Beyonce and JLo can wear skinny jeans, then I KNOW I can! Please help with that one, too!

I am probably THE worst at giving jean shopping advice considering pants never fit me because I have a butt and designers seem to think that if you don't have a flat ass then you are fat. But I normally have the best luck with Lux and Miss Sixty jeans. Lucky is pretty good too.
Now on with the shoe department (my area of expertise), Anthropologie has some great open toed flats like these which are $78. They also have some lovely flats with cut-outs that should make the sweating problem less of an issue. The prices tend to vary but you should definitely check it out. You might also want to look at Maloles for great open toed shoes. Don't forget that you can never go wrong with open-toed heels and skinny jeans.

In my last post someone asked if purple was "the" color for fall this year, like it's been in the past. Amazingly, it's not but an old standard is back. Black is back and stonger than ever. It's been seen in accesories and clothes alike. My favorite use of black is in rings. I really love this ring from Urban Outfitters that's $14. If Edgar Allen Poe was a woman he would have had this ring. Or maybe not.
Anyways, I would like to remind everyone that since it is summer I'm hardly at home and to not expect posts all that much. I'm trying for atleast once a week but it's hard.

Do you know that I love headbands? Well, I do (der) and I haven't owned a proper headband in about four years. When I was at Nordstrom's the other day I almost bought these but didnt' fearing it would be just another impulse buy that gets buried under a pair of shoes in my closet. So instead I bought a belt that's 2 sizes too big for me and just 5 minutes ago was buried under a pair of shoes in my closet. Now I really regret not getting the headband (but I mostly regret not getting the belt in a small, I need to learn to check the size of something before I take it to the cash register). Anyways, here it is. With a white one too. Each one is $8. And they are faux-patent leather to ensure that extra shiny quality all through their stay on your head. Oh goodness. I can't believe I said that.

One Day Until Summer Vacation, Can You Say Excited?

Sorry for the lack of postage lately, I've been busy with exams and planning for the summer. Actually, this might be my last post for a while. (Hopefully) I'll be going to the Outerbanks next week and the week after that I'm having my wisdom teeth removed, and then I'm going to New Jersey after I've recovered. Hi. I've noticed that you've answer people's questions about where they might find certain clothes and such. So I was wondering if maybe you could figure some stuff out for me too. Okay, firstly, I was wondering what brand this polo is. It has 2 or 3 "X"s in the logo area in the top left hand side of the polo and there is also an "X" on each side of the polo down by the hip/hem of the shirt. I've also seen that the polo has "prep" written on the collar when you flip it up. Another question is where might I get cute, vintage, unique, CHEAP clothes? I want to stray away from the mainstream "Abercrombie/Hollister/AE" look. I also need to get a nice, summery, flowy? dress for several occasions coming up including my brother's graduation and my promotion, as well. I'd like to keep my wallet as full as possible. Any suggestions? Oh yeah. One more question. What's the difference between a wedge and an espadrille? I've always wondered...anyways, I would greatly appreciate it if you could answer these questions and maybe e-mail me back.

I have no idea what brand the polo is. Sorry! Where can you get cute vintage clothes? Well, since I don't live near you (I think) I can't give you exact stores (duh) but you might want to try your local hospital. My friend Taylor goes to the thrift store at our hospital and she gets loads of adorable clothes that no one else has. Plus, the proceeds goes to help the hospital. Now, on with the dress (I hope I'm not too late!). I personally do not like super flowy dresses because they make anyone look like they are hiding a pregnancy. But, a dress like this from Nordstrom's is perfect for many occasions and the empire waist is wide enough to look fitted, not like you're wearing it to your shot gun wedding because the baby's due. What's good to know is that the dress is only $68 which is considerably less than the other dresses I was going to mention. And the difference between a wedge and an espadrille? Espadrilles are a type of shoe with this woveny grass stuff ass the sole. But wedges are shoes that basically look like they have a wedge tacked on to the bottom.

Let me say first that I love the dress! Anthropologie is one of the best places to get dresses. Red shoes would look stunning with this dress and definitely bring more color to the grey seersucker. But, I have fallen in love with these rouched kitten heels from Seychelles. The pointy toes would add a littl edge to the dress and since they are only a kitten heel you'll be perfectly comfortable and will not be hobbling up to get your diploma! They are a little bit more than your budget at $78 but the price tag is fine when you think about how many times you will be able to wear these shoes. Besides, if you want to bring color to the outfit you always have jewelry and purses. Maybe you could put a flower in your hair?

I couldn't figure out how to e-mail my question, so I'll ask in comments. The school board passed a board on uniforms. "Standard dress" (same difference) And I have a complex about dressing the same as anyone else. How can I dress up my uniform without being sent home? We can wear polos: maroon, white, black, and grey; khaki (gag), black, and navy blue pants; Solid belts, socks, and tights; and closed toe and heel shoes. I know. It's painful, right?

I get the feeling that you are not so keen on polos. Which is why I would like to introduce you to American Apparel's "leisure shirts". They have a collar, they look incredibly comfortable, AND they come in a plethora of colors. It's $32 and they have long sleeved versions for $38. I'm incredibly shocked that you can't have skirts! What kind of sadistic place do you go to school? Anyways, Urban Outfitters has some lovely black pants like these. If I were you I would just go to a local department store and just stock up on their black and navy blue pants. As for the shoes, did you see the ones I suggest for the question above this one? They're quite fitting. Since you do not have much of a variety for the rest of your clothes I think you should buy a bunch of different colored ballet flats.

That's Not Entertainment, It's Scary

I am sick and tired of seeing one pieces. The other day I was walking down the hallway in school and saw a girl in black velour jumpsuit. Which just fills me with thousands of questions that I will not get into at this point of time. Although, I do have a feeling that it was the girl who this guy I talked to once calls Annie With No Fanny.
There's also the romper I saw at Forever 21 and the countless one pieces that have been seen on celebrities lately.
This is a deep and disturbing problem. What if you had to go to the bathroom really badly?
However, I do kind of really like this one piece from Dolce & Gabbana's Fall '06 Ready to Wear collection. Maybe it's the sequins, maybe it's the bathingsuitness, or maybe it's the just the Madonna t-shirt that it's over. But it's definitely not the scarf/tights/moonboots combination.
Anyways. I just wish people would stop wearing anything that covers their crotch and their chest at the same time. Just wear a dress if you feel like being lazy, atleast then I won't get worried about bladder issues. Besides, the whole one piece thing makes you look like you got kicked out of tumble tots for being too old and you are looking for something to do with your free afternoon.

Normally I'm the leader of the anti-sweats brigade. But, everyonce and a while people need to take a break from the craziness of life and sit down in front of The WB with a magazine and just CHILL OUT. Whether it's because your friend is going after your ex-boyfriend, you realised that you don't actually remember the last time you slept in your own bed, or you are just a crazy person in general, it's a necessary thing in life.
Primp makes ace sweatpants that the young Hollywood set was into for about 5 minutes. Which is just A-OK in my book. Overall, the clothes remind me of new Betsey Johnson mixed with some American Apparel comfort. And now that I've finished writing that bit I have realised that I've written about Primp already. But, that was way back in a whole nother season.
So. This sweatshirt/sweatpants combo has unicorns on them. Need I go into details about the coolness of unicorns? I think not.

No, seriously. I love American Apparel and I love pencil skirts. So, naturally I love American Apparel's pencil skirt. The fact that it's cotton and the countless wonderful and bright colors that it comes in makes it all the more better. Plus it can also be worn as a tube top and, even though tube tops are slightly evil, I'm kind of envious of girls who can wear them (and by kind of I mean not really). But don't wear tube tops. Ever since Sarah Jessica Parker wore them on Sex and the City they've become even scarier.

Rock it With Jason and the Argonauts

Prom was last saturday but I'll never forget the white dress (left) that my best friend almost wore instead of the pink halter that she ended up with (which was still gorgeous). Me and my other friend, Carly, forced her to buy it becuase it looked so damn good on her but she insisted on not wearing it because it looked like a toga.
Which is complete lunacy, but that's not my point.
After it was decided that yes, the dress would not be worn, Carly and I couldn't stop talking about it and noticed everything that had even the slightest ancient Greek/Roman influences. So, this is my Greek post.
Greek is next big thing. Well, we hope considering we've had embarrassingly long discussions about it. Take the Alexander McQueen Ready to Wear Spring Summer 06 collection (green dress on the right) for example. You can look at the complete collection at Style.com. Not only is it very 90's but many of the pieces fit right in with what I was talking about earlier.
And, of course, no one can forget how trendy gladiator sandals where a while ago. Well, the braided leather is back but now it's not nearly as annoying. Then again, everyone and their mom has sandals like that now. And I'm not exagerating. These (left. DUH!) are from Urban Outfitters and are $28.
Of course, there is a huge amount of ancient Greek and Roman influenced clothes out there, it's just hard to find them on the internet. And by hard I mean I'm way to tired to think about doing that now.
Next time you think about dissmissing a dress because it looks like a toga think of me. AHEM.
Edit: THOSE ARE NOT GLADIATOR SANDLES. I know they are out of style (I would also like to point out that I have been chastised before for being to trendy and now people are pissed at me for showing something supposedly uncool). Have you seen gladiator sandles? These are a different variation. I personally hate gladiator sandles but the ones I showed are cute and summery. Perfect for walking to the beach. I obviously am not good at expressing myself sometimes.

Well, I've already answered the leggings thing a buttload of times. Please (and this goes to every one, seriously) check the FAQ before you ask a question. Also, it would be nice if you guys used spell check. But I'm kind of a spelling Nazi. Anyways, nearly everything goes with white. Okay, EVERYTHING goes with white. But, use your judgement, if you don't like how something looks with them then don't wear it. Might I suggest a striped halter top and some gold ballet flats though? It's very sweet and simple.

This dress (left) from Erotokritos is gorgeous! Is the bottom red stripe all right? If it isn't tell whoever is in charge that they are a complete moron. I don't know where exactly you can get Erotokritos clothes (the website says they are available all over the world but you have to e-mail them to find out more and I'm trying to answer this question quickly). So, if you have trouble finding that dress you can always get this one (on the right) from Ruby Rox. It's a classic simple style that leads to less boob-slipage than the Erotokritos one. And it's far easier to find since you can get it at Nordstrom's for $58.

Okay, I know prom is ages away but when you live where I live time flies in a not having fun way, so I'm already looking. Actually, I don't know when you'r prom is, so I don't really know if it is in ages, but mine is in February. Probably different since I live almost half way 'round the world.. probably. So here's my problem: I go to a Catholic school (lame, yes) and we are not allowed to wear black (which sucks if you're me), short dresses (not really a problem for me), dresses with spaghetti straps, tube dresses (for lack of a better term cause that doesn't seem to sound right to me, or maybe it's just me), dresses that plunge down in the front, or are backless, and heels cannot be more than two inches. I cannot seem to find anything [not ugly] without breaking the rules! Please help me!

Okay, your prom is ages away. I know it seems like it isn't but fashionwise, it is. I don't suggest buying a dress way before an event, the earliest should be one month away. Who's to say you won't find a dress that you really, really enjoy inbetween now and your prom? But, I will show you some nice dresses that fall into those guidelines because it's not that hard!
The dress on the left is from Anthropolgie and (although it kind of looks it) is not low cut at all! Plus, the patter is quite groovy and I doubt anyone else will be wearing a dress like it at all. It's all the great things about vintage dressed rolled into one. I don't know how big your prom budget is but it's $148. Be sure to check out my prom post for more!

it's a rarity that i ever go to anyone for fashion advice. i normally wear whatever i want and don't care about trends or other people's opinions. but i have this problem. it's called: "oh, that's on sale! okay.... sold!" well, i'm really not THAT bad, but i do tend to buy things just because they're cheap and worry about what to wear them with later. usually this is not a problem, but a few months ago i bought a pair of old navy tights that are a turquoise blue (pretty much like this). i have worn them with a denim mini skirt and it looked kind of weird. teen vogue recently had a spread where the model was wearing a trench coat and a dress and a skirt with similar stockings, but i didn't think it would look all that great on me. do you have any suggestions?

BLACK DRESS. But, if you want to wear them with an everyday outfit having them under a pair of jeans with holes in them is a nice way to bring bright colors into an otherwise boring outfit.

Recently I was in my school's Spring Dance Concert, where all the dance classes perform a dance and people go "ooh you guys are so talented!" So, my class had to wear black gouchos, tank tops, and white shirts.
Black gouchos.
Yeah, but what hurts even more is when I suggested we just wear black capris some moron said, "I don't know where to buy black capris!" I was so in shock that I couldn't say anything. Unfortunately we ended up dancing around to Linkin Park wearing black gouchos. I feel so sorry for every one that watched.
Anyways, here are some black capris/cropped pants/knickers/whatever.

They're basic! They could have been worn by the Pink Ladies and then again by some modern day starlet (baaah). You would think something so basic wouldn't cost $225 though. I love Theory anyways though.

I was at South Moon Under with my mom looking for gouchos when I saw these and tried to force her to buy them for me. Which she did not but whatever, they're still damn fly (and $129). They're cool because you can cinch them up and all the buttons lead to hours of entertainment in government class.

Ever since I bought a pair of Miss Sixty skinny jeans with zippers on the sides I've been in love with their pants. These are really similiar to the Theory capris, but only $89 and with a sweet button.

I have to say, I tend to like Marc by Marc Jacobs more than the regular Marc Jacobs line. So, it's only natural that I like the Marc black cropped pants. With zippers all over too! I don't know why I love these zippers maybe it's because there's something incredibly rock and roll and nonesensical about them. I think that's it. Wear these with a leather jacket a white wife-beater and I'll be your best friend. $178.

I read the DaVinci code and imagined all the characters in it wearing clothes from A.P.C. Even the crazy guy with leg braces. Anyways, A.P.C.'s black bermuda shorts are amazing. They make me want to run around Europe looking for the holy grail. $151.

How to Put a Picture as Your Header

1. Pick out your header. Upload it somewhere. I like photobucket but you can use whatever floats your boat.
2. Make sure you copy the image url. (e.g. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v141/yesiminvisible/you%20know%20you%20love%20it/vegasleggings.jpg)
3. Log into your blogger account and go to the template section. The easiest way to have a nice looking header is to have your template be Minima.
4. Go to edit the code, look for what's shown in the image to the left.
5. Change everthing after hl and before /hl to the html code for you image.
6. Press save. Now, if you want to edit anything else in your code (borders etc.) do it in the style section (it's all of the first mumbo jumbo in the edit template). It's confusing at first but you'll get the hang of it.

Fashion file! I love watching it during the summer with salsa and tortilla chips. haha I don't think I really have a fashion icon. I'm influenced by nearly everyone, I think. My favorite designer is probably Vivienne Westwood but it changes quite a lot.

Me and my friend were trying on cloths at this really cool shop, and I had a ton of sleave-less tops that I wanted to try on. She came out in jeans and a normal T-shirt (she's kind of plain), and when she saw me she commented on my white bra straps showing. And so here's is my dilemma, I where a push up bra because I'm not ANYTHING like throws girls that can hold tops up by there perfect racks! So please, Please, Please help me!

Well, you could always stop wearing a push up bra. Flat is where it's at! But I'm slightly biased (a-cups unite!). If you have a tank top on a little bra strap is all right, if you're hanging out with your friends. But if you're wearing a tube-top bra straps just don't look right. And I think that you're saying you can't wear a tub top with out a push up bra? Then don't wear them!

I have a skirt just like that! I normally wear it with a t-shirt or a tank top and a cardigan but I really like this combination. And yes, leggings would be a major trend overkill. Bubble skirts are great to have fun with. You can really go crazy with colors too, especially since this skirt is grey. I hope you enjoy it.

I love metallic ballet flats! They go with nearly everything. You could wear them with the bubble skirt above, or with a fancy dress. I have no idea how to reduce the pain in your toes. My feet have grown immune to pain.
And what to wear to the mitzvah? I went to a bunch when I was younger and I normally wore a jean skirt a nice top. Don't wear dressy pants! I hate it when people wear them to a party. Chances are you'll end up dancing and dancing in pants is no fun.

So, I was out with my friend Becca yesterday and we decided to pop into Forever 21. While we were in there I noticed this unholy thing.
Okay, I did almost buy it for dance class (but went with my better judgement on that one). I'm just so confused. Why would anyone make that? And sell it for $13.80. This looks like something that guy on the old CSI episode would wear. You know, the millionare who dressed up as a baby and would wear a diaper and then his "nurse" pushed him over his balcony. Clothing that brings up visuals like that should not be sold at the mall. Seriously.
But I guess I should have seen it coming, Urban Outfitters was selling stir-up pants in the fall.

Despite my last post, I really do love flats (sarcasm. learn to love it. well, I was serious about the platforms being cool thing) . In fact today I wore bright yellow ballet flats. One of my favorite pair of shoes are these Steve Madden flats. Say what you will about Steve Madden, but those shoes rock.
Well, I was looking at myDelias catalogue and noticed one of the models wearing those shoes which made me freak out a bit. Until I noticed the shoes for sale. As in, they made knock-offs of them. WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO DO THAT? Steve Madden isn't exactly the most high fashion brand at all. And they don't even sell the damn originals at full price anymore (and from what I've noticed you can only get them from the steve madden website).
Don't buy those shoes from delias. Do not. Please. Just, don't.

All this talk of bathing suits (and the fact that it was snowing a bit while I was chatting with my friends after school) has got me longing for summer (and some one wanted a post on flat sandals which seems like a fine topic). But, to be honest, during the summer I normally wear a bathing suit, jean capris, and reef flip flops. But, I can understand the need for pretty sandals in the summer. So here they are.

I don't know why I like these. But I do. And they look like loads of trouble to get on. But, who cares, once they are on they look fab. Atleast I would imagine so. I tend to stay away from shoes that take forever to get on ever since I grew out of those combat boots I had in 4th grade. They took me hours to get on and off. Anyways, they're by Pelle Moda and you can get them for $87.95.

I'm very anti-dressing up flip flops. But, these are cool. And not too dressing since it's studs on the leather thong bit, not sequins (hahaha, I said leather thong). They look incredibly comfortable too. In fact, if the price goes down I might get them to replace my old reef flip flops. Because $58 is too much to pay for shoes that I will only wear on my bicycle as I'm riding to the beach.

I actually hate flat sandals. I don't know why I'm doing this post. But these shoes are cool. I guess. They make me want to get out my old copy of Disney's Aladdin and listen to my Arabian Night's casette. But, I know that anyone could rock these without looking like a tool. Okay. Not anyone. Buy them for $78 from Anthropologie.

I've gotten a slew of e-mails asking for bathing suit advice so....here are a bunch of bathing suits. Chosen with Carly's advice (who's currently thinking of getting a website. Give us a yay or a nay on that matter por favor).
The 2 Pieces

Awww! This is such a cute bathingsuit. It's nice and happy and whatnot. And it's by Lacoste and you can buy it for $125 from Urban Outfitters.

I love stripes! They're so much fun. And this is a fun bathing suit. It makes me want to eat sorbet. I dont' even like sorbet. The top is $42 and the bottom is $40 from Urban Outfitters. Again.

It's retro! It's from Urban Outfitters again! The brand that makes it is named Salinas which makes me think of Selena, the singer (I would do anything for Salenas!). It's just too amazing. It also has little polka dots that you can't see in this picture. It's basically just awesome. The top is $55 and the bottom is $55 also.

It's time to end this Urban Outfitters loving. Not that it's a bad thing. Okay. I'm just gonna stop. This bikini is from Delia's. It's basic. And Everyone will probably have it. But it's still nice. $24.50.

The One Pieces

It's basically the one piece version of that retro 2 piece I mentioned. So, if you are terribly modest then get this. Because it's fly. It's also from Urban Outfitters and is $122.

In case you haven't noticed, I have a thing for old style bathing suits. This one is just too great. I must own it. Although you have to handwash it. Whatever, it's still gorgeous. It's $78 from Stars and Infinite Darkness.

Cut out bathing suits are fun. The tan lines must be cool too. Maybe. If you're one of those people that like getting tan lines from your sandals. And it's only $33.60 from Alloy (I know, the coolest store ever).

ALSO, please do not bug me to update in my comments. Telling me I suck will not give me less of a social life (which would free up my time to let me write in here whenever).

That dress is gorgeous! You could probably wear it with just chuck taylors and have your hair in a bun, that would look artsy but still chic. And, normally I hate this but it works with this kind of dress, you could wear tight black pants underneath and some ballet flats.

Thanks Karen! I started You Know You Love It because I had a livejournal community, WeLoveFashion (shameless plug, I know), and really wanted a fashion blogy thing. So I started a blogger account and here's the result!
Now, on with the dress, I love Dickies dresses! I've always wanted one, just never got around to getting one. Please, please don't wear leggings underneath it!! That's one of my biggest pet peeves. Dance, Dance!

Prom is, apparently, coming up. Sometime. Eventually. So me and my friend were internet-window shopping for prom dresses. Since I'll be crashing her prom because freshmen can't go to the one at my school.

Isn't this dress amazing? It's chic but still danceable and not too poofy like so many prom dresses, especially since this is just the first prom I'll be going to and not special or anything (I never really understood why prom was so special but let's move on). Vivienne Westwood is amazing.

I think this dress is perfect, it's not too formal since it's so short but it's also classic and beautful. Plus you'll be able to wear it again. And it comes in much nicer colors. Like red, black, and chocolate. And it's $48 from Nordstrom's, which it's pretty damn cool. And when you order a prom dress from Nordstrom's website you get a free clutch. Which is even cooler. Except, everyone will have it. So minus on the cool points.

If you want something a little bit more girly and alittle bit more promish then I'd say go for this one. Normally I hate pink and flowery designs but this is just an awesome dress. Plus you can still dance like a normal person and not have to deal with the insane puffiness of classic prom dresses. It's a Catherine Maladrino dress and it's $545 from ShopBop.

This is just the perfect party dress. It's made me fall in love with Erotokritos even more. It kind of reminds me of some of Chloe from Project Runway's designs. But much better, the little things are what count.

I have to have this dress one day. I've decided to wear it to senior or junior prom. It's called the Tango Show Dress and I think the name describes it perfectly. Although all the tango dresses I've seen a much more colorful. Whatever, it's gorgeous and I must own it. It's $248 and from Anthropologie.

Hiya . . . I just want to start off by saying that I adore your blog and you have the best taste in fashion. Really. K, anyways, after that inspired bit of fangirl-ish babble . . . I recently bought these boots and I can't decide what to wear them with. I've been doing skinny jeans, and that's worked, but I need something else to use, and I just can't think of anything. Why do I like this dress so much?! Im really tempted to get it for something next year, but will it still be so cute? The bubble hem kind of annoys me, but the whole dress reminds me of a Marc Jacobs one that Lindsay Lohan wore on the cover of Teen Vogue last summer. Of course the Marc Jacobs one was blown-up rose print that only looked like zebra, and it was pink and black. Your thoughts?

I really like the pattern and it looks like a pretty comfortable dress but I wouldn't suggest buying it, unless you were buying it on sale. The bubble hem thing is going to pass really quickly (although I do have a really cute bubble mini that my best friend, Benny, bought me and I love it a lot). But it also looks more like a bathing suit cover up, it seems to be more suited for the beach. And don't ever buy a dress just because it reminds you of something a big name designer did, only buy something if you're really comfortable with it!

I got an e-mail a couple of days ago (yes, I suck at getting back to people.) that said this:

ok so usually i'm the girl that everyone goes to for fashion advice (im the bignerd that has the fashion column in the school newspaper), anyway anway. I bought this dress, the one that is in all the ads for luella at traget alongwith almost everything else she made for targer..haha call me cheap. The dress
of course is big, loud, poofy and a little bit like a table cloth. I tried to
wear it over jeans and a t-shirt, which was an absolute no. So here I am asking
you, what do i do with it. Do i wear it with leggings and jean jacket with
london sole ballet flats? or do i wear it strapless to a party with pumps? Or
anything else that comes popping into your mind?

Oh please, DO NOT wear this dress with leggings underneath it. The plaid and whatnot is so...obvious that leggings would just look too busy and with the poufyness on the bottom of the dress leggings would chop up your proportions in the weirdest ways! I'd suggust wearing it with pumps and a simple black jacket (or jean jacket).

I've been asked thousands of times what I think about Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister. Personally, I really dislike Abercrombie & Fitch. To me, it's Tommy Hilfiger's sluttyer and hyper-annoying cousin. Of course, I have friends who swear by A&F but it's just a stupid chain to me. Plus I'll never forget the time I tried on a pair of cords there that began right above my suzie. That's just wrong.
I know Hollister is Abercrombie's sister store or whatever but I actually like it. Maybe it's because they call girls bettys and guys dudes but I think it's a great store to get basic sweaters and t-shirts. Granted, they can be a bit expensive but they're good quality and as long as you don't buy everything there it's all cool. Besides, it's got such a great laid back atmosphere that you can't help but enjoy it. And I'm planning on applying for a job at the local hollister.
Alright. It is partly because I would love to work at a store where your boss calls everyone dudes and bettys but I do need the work experience

Don't Stop Believing

One day I was shopping with a friend and she wanted to buy a pair of shorts and shorts just make me depressed because they never ever fit me properly (they're always too small in the rear and too big everywhere else) but next to them were some vests. So, for some reason, I bought a green plaid vest. But, I have nothing to wear underneath it. And I tried the whole nothing underneath it thing for about a minute in my room. By myself. It was bad. So I'm on the search for white blouses and here are some that I found.

Okay, so it wouldn't look that great under a vest but I still think it's pretty ace. It's a little bit of the military stuff that was in for fall but would be better suited for a summer safari. Or just hanging out at the beach. Oooh, the description actually says jacket. I guess it could be a jacket. Over a bathing suit? Whatever, it's still a cool blouse. It's also $165 by Theory.

Another Theory blouse, this one is $200. I love the rouching crinkly-ness in the waist. Which is fabulous because I read an article saying that waislines are getting wider so anything that accentuates the waist is a-ok in my book. Yes. This one would look weird under my vesty thing too but it doesn't matter at this point.

This is such a Mary-Kate Olsen shirt. But I love it anyways. Because I feel alseep watching Full House a couple of months ago and now I'm in love with the Olsen twins. By Free People, it's $50.

Tuxedos are in. They always have been, but now it's tres chic for a chick to wear tuxedo-esque things. Supposedly. You can take it over the edge, for example I would never wear this shirt with my tuxedo pants. But I do wear my tuxedo pants a lot with sweaters and other girly-rific things. But this blouse! I love this blouse. I want to wear this with my vest. Yes, I would look like a derranged waiter at some fake pub but it would be so much fun to wear! Besides, with out the vest it's quite cute. Thank you Rebecca & Drew. But you kinda suck for making it $230.

Woohoo, Theory has made a whopping 3 of the blouses that I've mentioned here. But I had to post this one, it's a classic short sleaved blouse. It's, simple and structured pluse there's lace trim on the sleaves. $175.

You Spin Me Right Round

I just had an AIM conversation that went a little like this:

Carly: and I get annoyed when you dont update it....
So, of course. I'm updating it.
First things first though. Yes. I was in ElleGirl. Thank you for visiting all you new readers. And, no, I really don't look like that picture. I made the mistake of sending ridiculous pictures my little brother took of me.
Anyways, on Friday my Dad drove me up to New York for Olympus Fashion Week avec my aunt (thank you, both of you!). Althought it was more of a fashion weekend since I had to go to school on Monday (pshaw). So, I got to see the Alice Roi show. It was AWESOME. The little punkish touches were great, not to mention the music. They played The Violent Femmes. And The Cure! It was like listening to my itunes.
The picture on the left is by far my favorite look from the show. Overall, the collection was very neutral (lots of tans, whites, and blacks) with splashes of hot pink thrown in. It was just too cool.
The tent itself was amazing. There was some guy with two-toned hot pink hair and a green and orange plaidish suit on. I tried to take his picture a couple of times but he kept on moving. And there was all sorts of free stuff. Like notebooks, and Atkins bars. And peppermint patties. If I was homeless but had awesome clothes I might hang out in the tent all day. But I don't really recomend that.
Oh yes, for those of you that found my myspace, please don't be offended if I don't add you back. I just use myspace to keep in touch with people I know but don't get to see that often.

I Make Spanish and Accesories go Together

I spent the whole weekend studying for my Spanish exam. Okay, that's a lie. I saw Brokeback Mountain on Saturday (go see it) and I fell asleep watching Erin Brockovitch on Friday (which is really just sad since I had planned on going out). Anyways, I studied for the first time since 6th grade and the test ended up being the easiest Spanish test all year. What is wrong with that woman? She told me I had to teach myself a whole unit of vocab because she just forgot to teach it to us and then it ended up not being on the test. She's a lunatic.
Anyways. This necklace is quite cute isn't it? It's a nice take on pearls, I'm sick and tired of seeing the blah white pearl necklaces. It's called the Hope Charm necklace. And it gives me hope that absolutely evil/insane Spanish teacher will be commited. I'm completely serious. I get in trouble in her class for taking notes. Oh well, I don't have her next semester so it is all good. Buy this necklace from Carolyn Koslen. And check out her other jewelry because it's all really pretty and pearly. But not white and boring.

I Know Highschool's Hard But, Honestly!

As I was walking in the hallway today, wondering what exactly is the point of matter and energy (I don't know anyone who actually care's about whether or not energy can be destroyed) I saw the most...frightening outfit in the entire world. Okay, it wasn't the most frightening outfit but it was pretty horrific. Unfortunately I didn't get to take a picture of what this girl was wearing.
Before I go into details I think you need some background information. I've seen this girl a lot in the hallways and at lunch, I don't know her name but I've started calling her Fifi. Fifi's one of those girls who likes to wear the whole rainbow of day-glo colors in one outfit. And scarves. I've noticed she has a thing for purple fuzzy scarves.
Anyways, today she was wearing a denim mini skirt, leopard print leggings, fishnets underneath those leggings, and to top it off (because, honestly I could go with the whole glam rocker leopard print leggings if I had to) she had leopard print high heals on. Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure she was wearing a flourescent blue shirt with a hot pink tank top over that.
Yes, my friends, there is such a thing as too much animal print even though, in case you didn't notice, I love animal prints.

Jealous Much?

By now you must have seen the Gucci Envy Me ads, so you've atleast heard of it. Whcih is great. But, there's something you need to know about it.
It smells freakn' awesome.
Even my punkish friend who is permanently commando and never wears perfume agrees with me. She used some of mine to spray on her spikey bracelet because it was smelling a little wonky. I just wish she still had half of her hair shaved off. That would have been amazing.
Anyways, it's got about a million scents in it and I really don't feel like naming them. But, it's quite flowery and a little spicey. Probably because of something called pink pepper. Are those natural?? Can you eat them? Are they really pink? Or did they just call the dye they used pink pepper? That's a bit disapointing.
Buy it. Love it. And use it while you listen to Stars.

I Could Say a Cliche About Zebras But I Won't

So, Happy new years everyone! I turned 15 on new years eve (yay!) and had loads of fun considering I was only home for one hour that day.
Anyways, on with the shopping! Early in December I got a Delias catalogue and saw this cardigan. Of course, I leapt off the couch and shoved the picture in my Mom's face and told her to get it for me. I guess that didn't really work since I never got it. But, luckily, I have birthday money and ordered it yesterday. It's perfect for now since it's got that trendy animal print but it can also be worn in the spring too because neutrals and whatnot will be oh so cool then. Don't I plan ahead.
Oh that's such a lie. I would have bought it no matter what. It's just too amazing and very Alexander McQueen. Of course, you have to ignore the purple t-shirt and garish "no really I made it in my knitting activity" scarf. ( Yes, I once took knitting and I've never finished a scarf. Ever. Which is really sad because I first learned how 3 years ago.)
All of my failures aside, it's on sale for $34 at Delias.

I just realised that I completely forgot to go Christmas shopping for my school friends, which means they are all getting their presents after Christmas (most likely) which is horrible and everything but whatever. I'll give them lollipops as a temporary gift. But, in the spirit of giving and whatnot here are some items that I think would make some FABULOUS gifts (HINT HINT!! every one has asked me what I wanted and I couldn't think of anything but look at this okay!).

I used to hate polos. But then I noticed how cute my friend Emma looked in polos and I saw this polo at BP. Maybe it's the little goth kid inside of me that likes it but I really do want it. It's $70 at Urban Outfitters.

I'm kind of...obsessed with sweaters. I wear them all the time. But I'm ridiculously picky about my sweaters. This one, of course, fits the bill. And, of course, it costs $88. Don't you just love me?

I know these kind of look ugly in the picture. BUT THEY AREN'T. There's something incredibly festive about velvet, don't you think? And the fact that Old Navy makes them is just too funny. But, Old Navy actually has some pretty amazing shoes. I got some pointed toe tweed shoes there in September while my Mom was buying groceries. Which is impossibly cool. What's cooler? They're only $19.0.

That girl has a laptop. A shiny, white, NEW laptop. And I know for a fact that if you give this to someone for their 15th birthday they will NOT ONLY cherish it forever and never spill drinks on the keyboard or have it not functioning for 3 days because dust got stuck in it, but they'll love you forever. You can buy it online at The Apple Store. Because some people deserve computers that were made after 2000.

Shoes! Parties! Winter!
It is, finally, my favorite time of the year. There are so many parties and presents, and with parties and presents come shoes that you must wear.

A classic leather slingback with a classic big bow. This is Christmas in shoe form. But not as annoying. YSL es mi amore.

Honestly, how adorably party shoeish can you get? It's crushed velvelt. It's metallic. It's got an ankle strap. Madonna even loves the brand. I love Madonna. This Bronx velve "court" shoe is $76.

Woohoo!! It's not an obnoxious green but it's still a Christmasy green. And it's an oh-so-trendy-but-actually-comfortable-wedge. Which is cool. It's $58 at some place called Urban Outfitters.

Did you know that Steve Madden went to jail? Yeah. Neither did I. He got out a couple of months ago (maybe?). But, I know it's a stretch, I like to think that the bars to his cell were the inspiration for this shoe. In fact the description says, "You'll be cage dancing in this hot leather pump 'til dawn." I'm sure he will. $79.95.

Oi!! I can't believe I've been ignoring the wonderfulness of accessories. I love jewelry. I love bags. I love sunglasses (really, half of my myspace pictures are of me wearing sunglasses. Yes I have a myspace. Get over it) . So, of course I'll dedicate a post to jewelry right now. Because I need jewelry. And I know for a fact that my aunt's read this and so does my mother. Do you really need me to write it out for you? Yes. I know you are all too intelligent for that.

I actually like the earrings that go with this necklace better but according to Urban Outfitter's website they aren't available any more. Pfffftt. But it is a cute necklace It's like Nicole Richie's angle wings tattoo but not as trashy. Wait. Is that Kelly Osbourne that has that tattoo? I don't know. Does it matter? No, it doesnt. It's $18 which is pretty darn groovy.
Holy crap. I found another version of those wing earrings I like here but the Urban Outfitters version was not ugly. And I think they were less expensive.

This bracelet frightens me. Never before have I seen a bracelet meant for people over the age of 12 with a pompom on it. I guess Miss Madame has decided that she is the one who must fill that void in the fashion world. I never saw 13 Going on 30 but I can imagine that they would have made her wear something like this in an attempt to make her look childish. Except the only problem is that all the 13 year olds I know (well...by know I mean I don't run away when they talk to me) have enough sense to never wear this. But if you really dislike some one and have no problem spending$218.50 to show how much you loathe them then go right ahead. Loser.

Shutup. I know it looks like something I would have tried to make in that jewelry making activity (I never got in because my Mom had tried to get the lady in charge of activities fired a couple of times. Let's just say she didn't like me). But I would have failed completely because I'm not exactly the best D.I.Y. gal. At all. So this is cool because I didn't make it. Plus, it's $9.50 which is a whole lot less expensive then what I would have sold it for. Because my ring would have been "unique". And by unique I mean so ugly it could burn a hole in your head. It'd be like The Hope Diamond, Rambo style.

You know those kids who wear locks on their clothes? Like on a belt loop or on a collar around their neck. Yeah, they look completely ridiculous but I've always thought it was kind of cool. In a completely bizarre way. I think someone at Tiffany & Co. is as bizarre as me for making these bangles and I love them for that. In 18 K gold they are $1,850 but in sterling silver they are $250.
