PSA

The world needs to know that there are patterns other than stripes and polka-dots. Seriously. Everytime I go shopping with my friends they always agree and say that they are over them. Bubble hems too. Enough is enough.

well, leith what do you suggest as replacements? there's a reason why stripes and polka dots are everywhere- stripes are classic, sophisticated, and flattering- polka dots are fun, fliry, and youthful- they both have advantages. patterns like houndstooth can be too professional and haughty, just to name one that probably won't get global following. so i really am curious, as to what you have to offer

i understand how you always see polka dotted shirts. but there's nothing wrong with them, they're just over worn. stripes on the other hand are stripes. like jayne said they're classic.

what else do you suggest? plaid, plain pastel colour shirts, tweed, mesh (eww)???

they're lovely patterns. I just get annoyed when stores will put them onto ANYTHING just becuase the patterns are super trendy.

then people buy them for that reason.
buying an item becuase one element is super-trendy is a pet peeve of mine.

Long live plaid, houndstooth, and florals!

I happen to love bubble hems. I think they sophisticate an outfit. As for polka dots and stripes? Why not. Its classic attire.

According to Anna Wintour, when she was on the Today Show, Plaid will be in for the fall. Perhaps that's a replacement.

I disagree with your statement about stripes and dots because they are a classic, and, I'm amazed that other people, and even magazines, consider you to be "hip, chic, and modern" because looking through your archives, and while reading most of your blogs history, I was really disappointed. Nothing you post here is original, and I'm actually shocked and wondering why everyone goes to you for fashion advice. Everything you post about is generic, and can be found in every store that's in every mall. You also seem to think of yourself as "more in the know" than everyone. And truth be told.... it's actually very sad and insecure of you.
I'd bet money that you know nothing about fashion history, and would never make it in the industry. And therefore, your opinion on such matters are not highly regarded....or regarded at all for that matter.

This may come across as harsh and just plain mean, but I am so unbelievably frustrated with your immaturity that I just don't care.

Stop picking on the gal, JEEZUS CRUST.

Seriously though, as "classic" as polka dots and stripes may be, if I see one more half wit girl posing on myspace, wearing a polka dot or stripey bowed headband on....I will scream and severley hurt those around me.

Who cares?
If everyone stopped wearing things just because they're 'out of season' we would be missing out.
And wow, your friends are over them!
That'll make me throw out my polka dot and striped stash right away!
:\

Wow anonymous (who wrote the long comment) I agree with you COMPLETELY!! Leith isn't ahead of any trends, she only points out whats obvious in a bitchy way lol. This blog isn't anything special. this is my first and last time here.
ps- if you're reading this blog to look original, you're gonna end up looking like everyone else!! the clothes on here are so TYPICAL!

The dress on the left looks kind of cheap and the dress on the right looks terribly unflattering.

Sorry leith, but you could have done better finding stripes and dots on the web!

people make me laugh. you honestly take the time to type a long comment about how stupid and what a bitch leith is. so you don't like what she said...get over it. if you're ridiculous enough to take the time to read something you obviously don't enjoy, you really need not to open your mouth. you are all fools.

I love stripes! Not small ones that are busy, but big bold ones. And usually nautical.

But the point of this posting is that I WISH EVERYONE WOULD STOP POSTING UNDER ANONYMOUS TO BE MEAN. Just post under your name or don't at all. It's not cool to be cowardly. And I don't think Leith thinks she's god...do you?

And when stripes go out argyle will be back in and we'll all have to carry around tennis rackets to look fashionable. I play tennis and go to a preppy school, but let's spare the world of that and stick with stripes.

but I have always loved bubble hems ever since I was a child, when the catwalk chose to embrace them I rejoiced but just cus everyone has been wearing them does that mean I should start disliking them??
